Strawberry Smoothie Bowl

SOMETHING ELSE?

Breakfast has always been important to me. It’s the first thing that goes into your digestive system after 7 or 8 hours of sleep and what will keep you alert and motivated for the rest of the morning.

If like me, you have a fast metabolism and an endless desire to eat and eat and eat…. you get the idea, then a big and healthy breakfast is the only way forward, we just can’t afford to skip it.

Usually I’m one for scrambled eggs and ham with a cup of freshly brewed tea and a fruit for the walk to work or even a fruit cocktail and natural yogurt. However, for a while now I’ve seen many posts sort of merge my love for big breakfast, fruit and yogurts, into one healthy, delicious and actually quite filling ‘Smoothie bowl’.

WHAT? Yup, that’s right, blend all the bulk of a morning breakfast together, top it up with some crunch and serve it up as big bowl of yummy goodness.

As this was my first one and let’s face it, with this humid, summer heat a peaceful night’s sleep is not really an option, I thought I’d try something that was a little simpler. Give it a try for your Saturday or Sunday Brunch and show us by tagging us on instagram @MamaLotties and #MamaLotties

Ingredients

  • 7 Strawberries
  • 250 G Natural / Greek Yogurt
  • Fruity Granola

Method

1. Rinse your strawberries thoroughly and chuck 6 of them into your blender, I used a Breville Active blender, add a handful of the granola and the yogurt.

2. Blend everything together until you see it’s smooth. If you have trouble and find it’s too thick to begin with just add a splash of milk to give it some fluidity.

3. Pour the mix into a bowl, sprinkle over some of the granola and top with slices of your remaining strawberry.
