It’s no doubt that with the use of chickpea in many of our dishes and Gibraltar’s vibrant Jewish community and Middle Eastern cultural connections that Falafel and falafel burgers can be found and enjoyed here.
Ingredients
- 220G Chickpeas (Soaked and Drained)
- 220G Lentils (Soaked and Drained)
- 3 Garlic Cloves
- 1/2 Onion
- 1 Egg
- 2 Tsp Chilli Powder
- 1/4 Tsp Salt
- Fresh Coriander
- 1/2 Beetroot
Method
1, In a food processor blend together the chickpeas, garlic, onions, chilli powder, coriander, beetroot and salt until smooth. Transfer to a medium bowl and crack in the egg, combining all the ingredients into a thin paste.
2, Shape into 3 of 4 patties about the size of the palm of your hand using a spoon as you pour it into a hot pan.
3, Heat a large non-stick frying pan over medium, pour in a little olive oil and cook until crisp and warmed through. Serve in buns with the sauce of your choice and salad.
