Croatian Flat Bread

SOMETHING ELSE?

This flat bread recipe was made on our show with Gabrijela Gradecak as part of Mama Lotties series where we then stuffed them with scrumptious Cevapcici

Ingredients

  • 500g flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 packet x 7g yeast
  • 300ml lukewarm water
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Method

Pre heat oven to 50C

Mix yeast with warm water. Weigh the flour and pass it into an oven proof dish, make a whole in the centre and slowly add the water/yeast mixture. Combine the ingredients into a dough.

Do not knead the flour, just make sure all the flour is used and leave the dough in the oven proof dish. Place the dish into the oven for 25 to 30 minutes. This will allow the yeast to work and give the bread a lighter texture.

In the meantime, mix together the egg yolk and oil. After the 30 minutes bring the dough out of the oven and increase heat to 200C.

Line an oven tray with greaseproof paper and sprinkle with flour. Get the dough out of the oven dish and shape into a round dough. Put on the floured oven dish spreading it round leaving the edges thicker than the Centre. Brush with egg/oil and transfer the tray into oven for about 25 + Minutes.

Try this with some Cevapcici
