What do you do with fresh pesto? You could use it in a pasta or chicken dish. Alternatively you can make a tear and share snack for the table.

Ingredients

  • Pre rolled puff pastry
  • Fresh red and green pesto
  • 1 egg (optional)

Method

FOR OUR FRESH PESTO RECIPE CHECK

Roll out the puff pastry so it’s nice and thin. Cut the pasty into thick strips and lay them out side by side.

Spoon the pesto onto each of the slices. Alternating between pesto, then fold each of the stop in half lengthwise.

Cross the tops of each folded pastry over each other and then begin to criss-cross them into a plait. (see video below for visual demonstration.). Finish it off by joining the ends and squishing them down and for a more golden fish brush over with a beaten egg.

Lay the twists onto a baking tray and pass them into the oven to bake at 170C for about 20 – 30 minutes. Bake it until you see the pasty is golden and crisp.
