Here’s a rich and decadent dessert that you can impress your friends with. Nanny Tucker’s Poached Pears are AMAZING! Especially when that wine reduces and goes all sticky and thick which gives the poached pears an amazing flavour.

Ingredients

  • 4 Pears
  • 1 Bottle Red Wine
  • Cinnamon Stick
  • 200G Sugar
  • Vanilla Essence

Method

poached pears

Place the wine and sugar in a large pot and begin to simmer over a medium heat.

In the meantime, peel the pears and slice the bottom of the pear so that it is flat and can sit up.

Place the rest of the ingredients in the pot with the wine along with the pears and top with water so that the pears are covered.

Leave to simmer until the mixture reduces into a syrup, this should take around 30 minutes or so.

Once the mixture is thick, remove the pears from the pot and pour the tick syrup over. Serve with some ice cream.
